Established in 2005, Otter Valley Concrete’s main focus was on specialty projects in the commercial, industrial, residential and agricultural markets. This remained their main focus for the first 10 years.
In 2015, OVC expanded its capabilities by investing in equipment for large-scale commercial and industrial flatwork, paving the way for new opportunities.
By 2020, the company had shifted its primary focus to commercial foundations and floors.
Today, 95% of OVC’s projects are dedicated to commercial foundations and flatwork, reflecting their expertise and commitment to quality in the industry.

Hugo came to Otter Valley Concrete as General Manager in 2017, bringing with him nearly a decade of experience in the construction industry. Originally from the Netherlands, he emigrated to Canada in 2009. With a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Greenwich in London, England, Hugo draws on his diverse background in both the military and education to provide strong leadership and a steady vision for the company.
Mike joined Otter Valley in 2017 as an estimator and has since grown into his role as senior estimator and project manager. A graduate of the University of Guelph with a degree in Management, Economics, and Finance, he brings a keen eye for detail and sharp financial acumen to every project. Known for his excellent communication skills, Mike plays a vital role in ensuring projects are completed smoothly and successfully.
Calvin first joined Otter Valley Concrete in 2016 as summer help and took on the role of estimator and project manager in 2020. He holds a bachelor degree in Architecture – Project and Facility Management from Conestoga College. Always ready to support his team and take on new responsibilities, Calvin is valued for his reliability, adaptability, and precise, well-organized project planning.
Darren manages the foundations division at Otter Valley, including project layouts with total station technology. He joined the team in 2015 as a concrete wall-forming supervisor with am extensive background in landscaping and surveying which gives him a unique perspective on every project. Darren is widely respected not only for his technical expertise but also for his big heart and ability to remain positive and encouraging in challenging situations.
Dan started at Otter Valley Concrete in 2016 as a concrete floor finisher and now leads the flatwork division, overseeing all aspects of maintenance and concrete finishing. With an extensive background as a Redi-Mix dispatcher, concrete pump operator, and finisher, he brings well-rounded expertise to his work. Beyond his industry experience, Dan is known for his inventive and mechanical mindset and is able to fix, adjust, or improve anything with an engine.
